Ok, so maybe there isn't a Giant Spider in the actual story :)
Building notes -
This is by far and away the largest model I've built in ages. I already had the gang all made up and waiting to be used and a selection of trees/plants round for the surrounding area. The tree itself is hollow, but can'tbe opened, as the whole structure is fairly flimsy. It took me three goes to get it like this, and I didn't dare mess around with it any more in case it collapsed and I had to start over again. The main structure was built in an evening, and then I took about an hour adding on the little fidly bits and dressing the set.
There is only one tree here, unlike the story, as just doing this one cleared me out of useful brown pieces.
On the LHS of the tree (as you look at it) you can just about see a small spider's web and some more spiders on the ground. There are a few scattered around in the branches, as well as 3 bats and a grey owl. In the RH corner of the picture there is a black baby dragon hiding under the sapling Travelers Tree, and there is also a small green frog hiding in the swampy-section near the back, but you can't make him out in this picture. The giant spider is basically the same as one from a Harry Potter set.
The pictures don't really do it justice, but I only had my mobile phone camera to use, and the lighting in my study isn't that good - there has only been one day since I built it when there was enough sunlight to take good photographs.
