Thrilling Heroics
The episode begins with our gang running through one of the Ream's thick medieval jungles. They are being pursued by stock footage of the Giant Wasps from "The Box" and "Day of the Dungeon Master." Suddenly the steep drop of a wide chasm blocks their way and the Young Ones need to scramble to avoid the creatures using their own trademark methods: Diana swats at them with her staff, then tries to ride one. Bobby smashes his club against the ground which doesn't do much to the airborne insects. Uni cowers. Presto whips a pun out of his hat. Sheila tricks two bugs into attacking her, then disappears from between them a move which never seems to get old or predictable. Eric wails as several wasps throw themselves against the surface of his shield and somehow never figure out that they just have to attack from the other side.
Finally Hank, in a daring feat of heroism, throws himself valiantly from the cliff.
For some odd reason, the wasps follow him. He is able to clip their wings with his arrows and fire another just in time to save his own neck. He climbs up to the top with the help of his friends.
Once Hank has arrived safely at the top and Sheila has finished swooning over his courage and self-sacrifice Dungeon Master appears on the other side of the ravine.
The kids greet him, Eric complains, Sheila points out that they are lost (again), Uni bleats, and Hank silences them all with a forceful burst of leadership.
"Greetings, my Young Ones," Dungeon Master says and warns them of the Great Danger they will soon be facing while searching for the next Portal Home. "But," he intones cryptically, "remember that sometimes the smallest solutions can solve your biggest problems."
Naturally the kids are confused by this. Eric begins ranting again, which diverts the gang's attention long enough for Dungeon Master to vanish mysteriously.
"He's gone!"
As the gang continues walking, the thick medieval jungle becomes a barren medieval canyon. Before long, they are attacked by a Random Dragon. The Young Ones need to scramble to defend themselves using their own trademark methods: Diana swats at it with her staff, then tries to ride it. Bobby smashes his club against the canyon wall which brings down several large rocks. Uni cowers. Eric wails and ducks beneath his shield to protect himself from the falling debris. Presto whips a pun out of his hat. Sheila yells for Bobby.
Finally Hank, in a daring feat of heroism, throws himself valiantly from the cliff.
For some odd reason, the dragon follows him. He is able to fire on it from below and drive it away, then fire another arrow just in time to save his own neck. He climbs up to the top with the help of his friends.
The gang continues their journey and soon find themselves at the top of an enormous waterfall. Just as they are beginning to think they are safe for a while, a large Water Serpent springs out and attacks them. The Young Ones need to scramble to defend themselves using their own trademark methods: Diana swats at it with her staff, then tries to ride it. Bobby smashes his club against the ground which triggers a tidal wave. (Unfortunately the monster keeps coming.) Uni cowers. Eric wails and ducks beneath his shield to protect himself from the water. Presto whips a pun out of his hat. Sheila disappears and reappears somewhere else.
Finally Hank, in a daring feat of heroism, throws himself valiantly from the top of the waterfall.
For some odd reason, the creature follows him. He is able to fire on it and send it back beneath the water, then fire another arrow just in time to save his own neck. He climbs up to the top with the help of his friends. This time he is wet.
At last the Young Ones reach an Ominous-Looking Castle. "This must be where the portal is!" Hank announces. Everyone agrees. Eric grumbles. Uni makes noise.
They make their way to the tallest tower and discover a Portal to the amusement park glowing rather randomly in the center of the room. Everyone is overjoyed and begins running for it.
Suddenly and also rather randomly Venger appears between them and the portal.
"Fools!" he says. "Give me your weapons now!" He starts attacking them.
"Scatter!" commands Hank. The Young Ones scatter. They try to defend themselves using their own trademark methods: Diana does a backflip. Bobby smashes his club against the ground which naturally causes the castle to shake. Uni cowers. Eric wails and ducks beneath his shield. Presto whips a pun out of his hat. Sheila doesn't do anything.
Finally Hank, in a daring feat of heroism, throws himself valiantly in front of Sheila.
Venger's blast hits him and he disappears.
Sheila screams and Bobby has a tantrum, pounding the ground with his fists. Eric suddenly takes charge (because that's what he does when Hank disappears). He leads the other Young Ones away from Venger.
We cut to Hank. Venger's spell didn't hurt him; it shrank him. Of course with his super-small size, he can now see the Ominous-Looking Castle's Teeny-Tiny Vulnerable Point hidden behind a crack in the wall. Hank, in a daring feat of heroism, throws himself valiantly into the crack.
Then he fires his bow.
Soon Venger has the Young Ones cornered again, but all of a sudden the castle begins coming down around them. The Young Ones run for it.
"NO!" yells Venger.
Hank, who has emerged victoriously, grabs onto Uni and hitches a ride out of the castle as it crumbles to the ground. The Young Ones see him and there is much rejoicing.
Venger's Ghost materializes from the rubble, then vanishes. Afterwards, Dungeon Master appears again. He congratulates them on ruining another trip home so he can get more quests out of them. He also offers to restore Hank to his original size.
"Actually," Sheila says, "I think it's better this way. He's small enough to fit in the palm of my hand!"
The other Young Ones agree, citing DM's earlier words that "the smallest solutions can solve your biggest problems ."
After all, which of them causes more problems than Hank?
"He's always falling off high surfaces," says Diana.
"And getting kidnapped," agrees Eric.
"And making us mistrust him," added Presto.
"Plus he fits in my pocket this way!" squeals Sheila.
Then everyone laughs at something Eric does.
