SERVANT OF EVIL
SUMMARY
Venger is a harsh man, especially with prisoners. He has a Prison of Agony; a huge fortress-prison, suspended over a pool of molten lava. The only way into this prison is across a narrow drawbridge, and the only one strong enough to work this is Karox, a giant forced to cooperate with Venger for the sake of his homeland.
Out in the jungle somewhere, the gang are celebrating Bobby’s birthday, and surprise him with presents (all of realmic variety). Some of Eric’s present *escape* into the forest and Bobby rushes after them with Uni!
While he’s gone, Lizardmen attack the camp, and despite fighting well, the others are captured. When Bobby returns, he finds he’s alone. But Dungeonmaster appears and tells him the others have been taken to the Prison of Agony, for which no one has ever escaped. He gives Bobby a present of a medallion, and a riddle. “It’s power is in the giving when yon need it the most you must give it away”. Thus armed, Bobby goes off to find his friends.
The others are brought before Venger, who takes the weapons and gloats - a lot! They then are put in the Prison by Karox, and left there. But Venger knows Bobby will come to look for them.
Bobby is moving in the direction Dungeonmaster told him, with the medallion guiding him, and heads towards the highest volcano.
Inside, the others are hot and bored and worried. A cloaked man appears, called Strongheart who is honoured to meet them and he shows them a way out. They climb down to the chains that hold the Prison up, but they have been spotted by the guards, who release a creature to capture them. Their only choice is to return, and hide.
Bobby is making good progress, and is close to the top. He avoids the lizardmen, but runs into Venger and Karox. Again, Karox tries to defy Venger, but if he does, he knows his homeland will suffer. Bobby tries to get to across the bridge to free the others. Karox is ordered to pursue, but falls over the edge and hangs there, helpless. Feeling sorry for the giant, Bobby helps him up.
Karox thanks him for saving his life. In return, he lies to Venger, saying the Club fell into the lava and was destroyed, when he really gives it back to Bobby. He promises to help Bobby and the others escape by lowering the drawbridge at a certain time. Bobby gives him the medallion to help, just a Dungeonmaster’s riddle told him to.
The Barbarian is reunited with the others, and they plan what they’ll do next. Stongheart had a magic weapon too a golden hammer, and knows where it’s kept.
When midnight comes they escape, and rush to the dungeon, they find Strongheart’s hammer, but not their own weapons.
Venger suddenly appears (by blowing up a wall again) and the lizardmen attack, using their weapons against them! They are out numbered, but once again Karox refuses to help Venger, and helps the kids by returning the weapons. Venger retaliates by making a lava dragon, that they eventually defeat it with magic, when Presto conjurors up a hosepipe to cool and solidify the lava.
Furious, Venger collapses his own castle around them, knowing they will likely be caught by the lava. Karox tries to stop Venger escaping, and Venger tries to get rid of the giant, but his own magic backfires on him, the medallion that Bobby gave Karox protects him for the effects. Venger is banished once more.
They release the drawbridge and help the other prisoners escape before the mountain blows up. Karox is worried about his homeland, but with the medallion, he is well equipped to protect them from Venger’s wrath.

It’s Bobby’s tenth birthday.
Eric’s present was ‘found’ in the jungle.
Eric has nothing to say when they’re captured – it’s Diana and Presto who get all the quips!
Yes, that is definitely a spiderman comic Eric is reading in the Prison! Meantime, Diana and Hank are getting very close. It would have been more likely for Hank to be comforting Sheila, since it’s her brother who’s missing.
“For many years I have been scraping at the stone walls, and today, I have broken through!” says Strongheart. – What are the chances!
They are all very good climbers, if they can climb sheer walls!
It takes 4 lizardmen to close the drawbridge as opposed to just one Karox.
Strongheart had a golden Hammer (and a nice, winged helmet). It can smash arrows and make a protective force-field.
The lizardmen definitely use the weapons. Lizardman using Hat can get an eagle to grab hammer. Do they work differently for Evil characters?
“What’s the use, I never get what I want, anyway!” Presto, about the Hat - Insight at last!
“I need help, not a cheerleader!” Eric to Presto – very similar to what Eric’s said to him before!
“You cannot withstand the force of the volcano itself” Venger
“Why do I get the terrible feeling that he’s right this time?” Eric. One of my favourite quotes.
Hanks arrow can pull levers. (Still no coffee, though)
Hank protecting Sheila at the end – just being a good leader, or something more?
Eric’s last quip, is just another chance to get everyone laughing at him.
